Fact Sheet • Application Procedure • After Job Shadow

Application Procedure

Read this whole page before applying.

Student Job Shadow applications will be accepted starting Monday, December 1 and end the evening of Monday, December 22.

First, check the Job Listings page and find one to three jobs you would like to do. Write down the job code for each. Please make sure, before requesting a job shadow, that you are allowed to be absent from school on Job Shadow Day and that you are able to arrange your own transportation. Once assigned, changes and cancellations are strongly discouraged.

Next, apply for the Job Shadow Program at Online Application. It will ask for your personal information and job code choices. You must fill in all the blanks for us to process your application.

Finally, you must printout, fill out and turn in two forms to the Job Shadow box at the ASB office (Ms. Mandec's desk) to complete your application. The forms are:

You will need the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer to read the forms. You may download the program for free by clicking on the button to the right. Get Adobe Acrobat

Forms must be turned in within 7 days of applying. Applications without forms will not be assigned to Job Shadow, so turn the forms in ASAP.

Application processing and job matching will begin after registration closes and is performed by the MVHS PTA. The order of assignment is described below.

Registration confirmations

Registration confirmations will be emailed starting January 12, 2009. Student packets will be distributed January 15, 2009 during brunch and lunch in the Career Center. The packet contains information pertinent to your job and host, such as meeting location, contact information, etc. It will also contain forms to complete and bring to the orientation meeting.

Orientation meeting

Confirmed students must attend the orientation meeting with their parent(s) on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. A make-up session will be given in the Career Center on Thursday, January 22, 2009.

Transportation

All transportation must be provided by the student and/or parent. You may arrange car pools with other students who are shadowing at your company.

Changes or cancellations

Changes and cancellations are strongly discouraged. They are not fair to other students who might want that job and discourteous to the host company who took the time and effort to arrange your visit. If you must request a change or a cancellation due to unavoidable circumstances, please send an email to shadowInfo@montavistapta.org with your reasons.

Order of assignments

Job Shadow assignments will first be made to students of the parents working on the Job Shadow program, then in the order received by seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen.
